| The Corning Incorporated Retirees Group is open to all retired hourly and salaried employees of Corning Incorporated and their spouses. The CIRG holds monthly coffee gatherings with guest speakers in the Riverfront Café at the Corporate
Headquarters complex, arranges at least two group trips per year and holds at least two major functions each year - most notably, a summer picnic and a December Christmas Party. All of these functions are open to CIRG members and their guests.
CIRG Policy on Event Cancellations
As a matter of policy, in the event weather forces Corning-Painted Post schools to close OR DELAY the start of the school day, the CIRG program will be cancelled.
What is a Corning Incorporated Retiree and Who May Attend CIRG Programs?
We get these questions quite often from folks who want to know if they can attend our Corning Incorporated Retirees Group meetings and participate in our events.
For the answer, we ask a question of our own. Do you receive a pension check from the corporation? If so, you are a Corning Incorporated retiree...whether you retired from Corning Incorporated or from World Kitchens (or elsewhere). As such, you are welcome to participate in all CIRG activities. This includes ALL employees, union or non-union, salaried or hourly,
The bottom line is that all activities of the Corning Incorporated Retirees Group are open to all former Corning Incorporated (or Corning Glass Works) employees and their spouses and friends. All are welcome to attend our monthly coffee sessions, and join in our annual picnic, Christmas party and other community service activities. All these events and pertinent related information are announced on this web site, in our newsletter and in advance notices sent to the local media.
CIRG coffees programs -- with guest speakers on a variety of topics -- are held from 10 to 11 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the month in the Riverfront Cafe. Be advised that there are occasional exceptions to this schedule, so it is best to check this web site and the local media for the latest information.
HELLO-O-O-O Out There! How Are You? What're You Doing?
This web site is not just for retirees in the Chemung Valley and the Twin Tiers. It's for all Corning Incorporated retirees from all plants. We have retiree gatherings and events in our many plant towns or in towns where employees (a.k.a. Snowbirds) gather.
