A: Retiree Extras is a shopping comparison web site that offers discounts on national consumer brands, such as Apple, Sony and Barnes & Noble. The program was launched May 11, 2009 to provide the Corning Incorporated’s U.S.-based retirees with many of the same discount offers provided to the company’s active employees.

A: The Retiree Extras site is maintained by Beneplace. Any questions or issues with this site or its providers should be directed to Beneplace, or call 1-800-683-2886. There is a customer service contact link at the bottom of each page on the site.

A: You can access the Retiree Extras site any time and from any location with an Internet connection. This discount site is accessible through the Corning Incorporated Retirees Group web site (http://www2.beneplace.com/corningretirees).

A: Yes, although retirees can access many of the same discounts available to Corning employees, there are currently fewer discounts available on the retiree site, since it is newly established.

Q: What is Beneplace?
A: Beneplace is a national discount management firm which administers theRetiree Extras site and coordinates with the discount providers. Beneplace was founded in 1974 and specializes in voluntary benefits programs. It manages employee discount programs for more than 100 clients, representing approximately four million employees. Beneplace’s clients include IBM, Intel, 3M, Siemens, Honeywell, AT&T and Shell Oil.

Q: What deals are being offered?
A: The Retiree Extras site will offer discounts in the automotive, computer/electronics, travel & entertainment and consumer categories. More than 30 discount providers are represented on the site.

Q: Why isn’t this program offered outside the U.S.?
A: The discount providers participating in this program only process orders for delivery to a U.S. postal address.
